The not-for-profit Shedd Aquarium Society was founded by 15 civic-minded people on Feb. 11, 1924. Their goal was to operate the finest aquarium in the world — which the Shedd Aquarium Society, with 46,000 member households, continues to do today. Be a part of Shedd’s history and its future — join!
