Shedd Aquarium Celebrates 80 Years
Every day in September, Shedd will offer free general admission to the first 80 guests, to enjoy and explore the wonders of the original galleries opened in 1930—at the opening day price!
In addition, remember your favorite Shedd moments over 80 years as the aquarium launches its Share a Memory, Make a Memory contest through Shedd’s Facebook page and website. Fans on Facebook and online visitors can share their most memorable moments at the aquarium. The top five memories will be selected, and Facebook fans and visitors to Shedd’s website will vote for the best guest moment. The winner will receive Shedd’s newest extraordinary experience, a penguin encounter, for four, plus a gift certificate to Trattoria No. 10! Submit your entry between Sept. 1 and 19. Voting for the contest begins Sept. 20, with winners announced Sept. 30. Click here for contest rules.
Community Discount Days
On our Community Discount Days, general admission is free. Includes the Waters of the World, Amazon Rising, and the Caribbean Reef. Packages including Wild Reef, Polar Play Zone and Oceanarium are available at a discounted rate. Shedd's 52 discount days a year take advantage of civic and school holidays to make family visits more convenient.
Our Monday and Tuesday Community Discount Days in 2010 are
Sept. 13, 14, 20, 21, 27 and 28;
Oct. 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 and 26; and
Nov. 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29 and 30.

Resident Discount
Residents of the city of Chicago receive a $3 discount on admission every day, except Community Discount Days. Must present vaild ID.
Other Discounts
We offer a discount to teachers, active-duty military personnel and Chicago police officers and firefighters. With proper ID, you will receive discounted admission to the aquarium, Oceanarium and Wild Reef. Students and senior citizens receive a $3 discount on admission every day, except Community Discount Days.
Membership
Shedd is a happening place because our donors and members make things happen. There are some great perks including discounts on programming and free admission for a year.
Great Kids Museums Passports
A Great Kids Museum Passport is good for two adults and two children for general aquarium admission only. Find them at Chicago Public Library branches. Passes should be presented in the general admission line.
Corporate Members Discount
If your employer belongs to our corporate membership program, you may qualify for free or discounted admission to the aquarium.
