Making Waves Campaign

The Oceanarium opened in 1991 and quickly became a “must-see” destination in Chicago. Shedd’s attendance doubled in one year, and more than 33 million visitors have experienced this iconic space in the aquarium.
A much-needed renovation of the Oceanarium became a unique opportunity to revitalize the exhibit and reimagine the experience for our visitors. A nine-month, round-theclock project has accomplished just that…and more!
Your contribution to the Making Waves campaign will help complete the funding for the Oceanarium renovation and other vital enhancements to Shedd Aquarium.
